Stanford in Cambridge
Live like a Cambridge student for this very special long weekend celebrating the anniversary of Charles Vllliers Stanford in the town where he lived and worked for much of his life. We will be based in Sidney Sussex College, founded in 1596, where we will study and perform some of Stanford's greatest works concluding with a performance in the college chapel. There will also be plenty of time to explore this historic city - and maybe even do a spot of punting on the river Cam.
Who is the course for?
This course is for experienced singers who want to improve their choral technique and enjoy exploring a rich mix of repertoire in a convivial social setting. Singing couples and individual singers are all welcome. Music will be sent out in advance and, while nobody is expected to be note perfect on arrival, we do expect singers to familiarise themselves with the music beforehand. This is not a course for beginners but anyone who has been singing regularly in a choral society or church choir is unlikely to feel out of their depth.
The course starts at 11.00 am on the Friday and will conclude with a sing through in the College Chapel on Sunday afternoon.
