Matthew Finch
A prolific composer and arranger, Matt Finch has been singing and performing since he was a small child. At secondary school he sang in three different youth choirs – going on tour, singing in recording studios, and performing big choral works in the Royal Chapel of St. George’s Windsor.Musical Director for Bath Light Operatic Group for over 25 years, Matt completed his music degree at Bath Spa University where he conducted the choir and orchestra. Two years later he completed his MA in Composing Music for Film, TV & Theatre at Bristol University, for which he received full sponsorship from Cameron Mackintosh. Since then he has composed over 6 musicals, several big and small choral works, and several short pieces for piano.
During Lockdown, Matt directed a number several online performances with RunBySingers - Mozart Requiem, Rutter Gloria, Brahms Requiem, Durufle Requiem, and Vivaldi’s Gloria; Matt also conducted Vivaldi’s Gloria live in Venice.
He directed 6 online Choirshows during Lockdown which helped to raise over £14,000 for charities which collectively have been viewed over 15,000 times. Matt also wrote “The Singers’ Gym”, a collection of vocal exercises for singers which backing and guide tracks. Near the end of Lockdown, Matt hired a Football stadium to allow over 100 singers to come and sing together, and followed that up with a big “Sing the Change” performance at the top of hill in Bath, and a live Radio 4 performance of “Deck the Hall” from Green Park Station.
He believes in positivity and will always encourage individuals and choirs to push themselves a little bit further out of their comfort zone – as this is where the magic happens!
